RIP AMD Low-End: Intel i5-12400F, i3-12300, H670 & B660 Motherboards, & New Coolers

Intel couldn’t stand by and let AMD announce everything this year, so it announced its H670, B660, & H610 cheaper chipsets (and motherboards) for Alder Lake, alongside much cheaper CPUs.

This video covers the specs, price, and release date of Intel’s non-K CPUs, like the i5-12400F, i5-12400, i3-12300, i3-12100, and more. We’ll also talk about the differences between the Z690 chipset and H670, B660, and H610 chipsets. This chipset comparison will help you evaluate whether it’s worth the extra money to get Z690 versus one of the cheaper options.

  1. So, the i9 and i7 non-K have the E-Cores but i5 and i3, even the 12600 non-K doesn't … I hate how the low and mid tier market is threatened. The whole point of the K version is to be unlocked to overclock, and not to be better with more cores.

  2. The problem with intel is, at my country at least, the motherboard for intel are so expensive especially the new gens like 11th or 12th its 100+ eur and amd 5000 cheaest is 65 eur…

  3. Intel needs to lower the price of their K CPU's and should have long ago when they decided to eliminate their CPU cooler with the K series. Why? Their coolers weren't useless at the time of purchase, at least the customer could install and run the CPU for the cost. When they eliminated them, the customer can't really use the CPU and has to spend $30 to $90 for a reasonable air cooler just to use it. Was that a fair price change of maybe $10 to $20 between the "K" vs "non K"? No, it wasn't and still isn't which makes the cost of the K series overpriced. Not every "K" sale and customer will overclock those CPU's and not every "K" will be going into a Z motherboard. That is where I believe AMD did a great thing with their coolers and supply them with all of their CPU's I believe. Besides, most Intel "K" products will not overclock like they used to 5 or more years ago so the "K" actually carries less value than they did back then. Those B chipsets are very limited…don't really see any benefits in them for the money however, the H chipsets do have a lot of value when you see the added features vs. the cost. I think most Z chipsets are purchased mainly because of one or a few features they have vs. overclock abilities which truly makes the Z chipsets carry the least value per dollar.
Also, for those who do not game 100% of the time, the Intel graphics are well worth having vs. an F CPU as there is not enough of a discount to make a graphics card purchase worth it. A discrete graphics card to equal Intel GPU performance would far exceed the cost difference of an F vs. non F CPU making the user go for the higher end GPU card just to make that card purchase justified. Also, Intel doesn't provide the newer UHD graphics in the 400 and lower CPU's so the 500 and up CPU's carry much more graphics value. The 11th gen 500 CPU's had the best value last year yet "not available" for most of the year…seems like Intel just had that model listed for sale but chose not to make them.

  4. Laminar, No Heat Pipes? And yes, 10400f was a good CPU. I want to see how a 12400f does. Hope fore 6 cores and 12 threads as a I3 variant.

6 Performance and 0 Efficiency. But it has 12 threads. Upto 4.4 GHz, might see 4.2 to 4.4 GHz in reallity depending on the cooling.Starts to sound like a detuned I5-11600 variant. What's the cost of the I3-12100,f,fk? Might be a awsome entry level deal.

  5. May I suggest. To make this type of review useful to more gamers to include battle royale games with full or close to full lobbies? Warzone is top on the list, Battlefield 2042 or even V is a good one. Don’t use bots. Run it on live games. I’m not sure how you would design a benchmark like that but I believe that is something really useful. Battle Royale are different they will paint the real picture in performance. Not only that, these are games that millions of people play. Please consider. Thanks!

  6. Question, could you unlock all core 4.9 and remove power limits on the
    12600k+b660? I am not talking about overclock, i know b660 doesn't allow
cpu oc, my question is regarding removing powerlimits inside bios?
    Thank you

  7. Can somebody help me here, I'm not into overclocking but looking at the P and E cores of the new i5 12600k I'm tempting to get that over the i5 12400f. However my budget only allows a B660. Should I get the 12600k? Or will it make no difference on a B660 with 12400f?

And does Intel Turbo Boost work on the 12600k processors running on a B660 board?

    If possible, someone help!

  8. Sold a some gear I had lying around and had $500 to play with, really wanted a 12700k since microcenter had em on sale for under $300 on christmas, but mobos and ram is soooo expensive. Ended up with a 12700F and an Asrock H670m Pro RS, keeping my 32GB DDR4 3200 RAM. Under $500 for the package, plus tax, and with the auto boost features it KILLLSSS. Had a 9700k at 5 Ghz stuggling to feed my 3090, but now it’s a whole new world. Super happy with the system. CPU temps dont reach 60° with an Arctic LF II 280 and GPU doesnt hit 70° with two 140mm’s in bottom intake in an O11 Air Mini.
